Fred A. Hartley, III,
Lead Pastor
Fred Hartley is a Christian leader in Metro Atlanta, and has served as Lead Pastor of Lilburn Alliance Church
since 1988. He and his wife, Sherry, and their four children love living in fast growing Gwinnett County.
In addition to pastoring a growing and influential congregation, Fred is a
servant leader in the pastor's prayer movement in our city and nation. Every
year he speaks at colleges, universities and conferences throughout our country
and around the world. Fred spoke at the 1996 Promise Keepers Men's Conference
held at the Georgia Dome. He has written fifteen books including his latest book
Prayer on Fire, "Navpress, June, 2006." He also wrote the best seller Dare to be Different, dealing with peer pressure, The Teenage Book of Manners, Please! and Men and Marriage (What it Really Means to Keep That Promise).
One of his most recent books is a biography of Armin Gesswein entitled Everything By Prayer.
Fred's father, Al Hartley, was a professional cartoonist illustrating Archie comics. Al Hartley has also drawn the Christian comics, including The Hiding Place, God's Smuggler, The Cross and the Switchblade and more than 60 others.
When his dad died in 2003 Fred wrote an essay in which he openly shares the
grief process in "Dad, Are You Dying?"
His grandfather, Fred. A. Hartley, Jr., was a United States Congressman from New Jersey and co-author of the Taft-Hartley Act.
Fred and Sherry met each other at Wheaton College from where they also graduated. Fred received his graduate degree from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. For fun he enjoys running,
riding his motorcycle, playing with his grandchildren tennis and a very mediocre game of golf.
